Response to Adversities
When disaster struck Bengal, the batch of ’87 did not wait to be asked.
Natural disasters fall hardest on those with the least. Guided by a single principle — reach the last mile first — we carried relief to families the world had forgotten, across three of Bengal’s worst calamities.
COVID-19
Through the pandemic and lockdown, we reached the most vulnerable across Kolkata and West Bengal — dry rations to 170+ families at Bharu Ramkrishnapur and 175 at Hariharpur, cooked meals at Moulali and Sealdah, and PPE kits for Kolkata Police. In the deadly second wave, we sourced oxygen concentrators and supplied Fowler beds to the RKM safe-home shelter at Narendrapur.
Cyclone Amphan
When Amphan devastated the Sundarbans, we carried 501 litres of sanitiser to Canning, Kakdwip and Diamond Harbour. Partnering with the Indian Dental Association, we delivered a further 550 litres of sanitiser, 50 solar lanterns, 100 packs of baby food, and medicines to Ramganga, Patharpratima and Diamond Harbour.
Cyclone Yaas
As Yaas flooded the coast, we arranged ration packets for 160 displaced families at Rangafala under Kulpi — each lasting about a fortnight — delivered to the Belpukur Panchayet on 6 June 2021. We also presented ₹75,000 to a community kitchen at Namkhana to keep it running.
